Nutrition Tip: Ectomorph – Eating for Your Body Type

We all come in many shapes and forms. People who can eat just about everything in sight without gaining weight are classified as ectomorphs. They can be identified from their lean frame and thin/lanky limbs. 
Ectomorphs looking to gain weight and muscle mass should follow these basic tips: 
  • Quality Calories –Remember that you are what you eat; junk in = junk out. If you wish to gain weight as an ectomorph, consume a lot of quality calories to obtain true growth.
  • Eat Often – Your body burns through food quickly so you need a constant stream of nutrients being delivered to help rebuild your muscles following your training.
  • Eat Before Bed – A high-quality protein source before bed helps ensure your body has the building blocks it needs during the time it does the most repairs (while you’re asleep).
  • A Solid Meal Composition – Build your meals to fit your specific needs. An Ectomorph should try to include 1-2 palms of protein, 1-2 fists of veggies, 2-3 handfuls of carb-dense food, and a source of healthy fats in your major meals.
